Dear Fellow Bike Riders

How many of your club mates or riders you race with have had an enforced ride in an Air Ambulance? Think about it - the answer may be more than you first imagine!

In Team Midland we know of two riders who have, and reading Cycling Weekly it’s not unusual to read about yet another rider being whisked of to hospital to be checked out after a crash.

These whirlybird crews really provide an invaluable service to us. This was clearly demonstrated in April when Stephanie Smart was hit by a car and seriously injured whilst en-route to a club event!

At times like that you truly value the help provided by the experts. Thankfully they were quickly on the scene and Steff was swiftly flown to Selly Oak Hospital. We are pleased to report that she is now well on the way to a complete recovery.

The frightening thing is that this invaluable and overused service is not Government Funded! - These life saving Helicopters have to rely on donations to keep flying!

TMR believe that it’s time to say thank you. So we are organising a fund raising Time Trial on Sunday 19th August. There aren’t any open events on in the region that day so you have no excuses. TMR would like to invite you to join with us and ride our 15.5 mile Time Trial on the K26-15. Give the County Air Ambulance crews your support by donating £5 to the fund and ride the Team Midland Hilly 15.5 TT.

The County Air Ambulance guys will be there to show you round a Helicopter and after the event we will be Auctioning a Signed Aston Villa Team Shirt!

The event HQ will be Meriden Village Hall where you can leave your car, get changed, have tea after the event and bid for the Aston Villa Shirt.

Entry is on the line at the start, with the first 50 riders getting to race. No prizes - just the chance to say a very positive thank you to the guys who regularly save lives and have provided help to fellow Bike Riders when they needed it.

Put the 19th of August in your Racing Diary and whether you’re fit or not:-

Ride the County Air Ambulance 15.5

HQ open from 7:30am. First rider off at 8:01am
