2020 Time Trial Series – Events List

Welcome to the BMC time trial series for 2020. With the easing of lockdown restrictions in early July, following government advice and CTT guidelines, we are able to promote a limited series. Signing-on will be at the car-park in Knowle, and a whole range of Covid precautions and procedures will be in place. These advices might well change, so we reserve the right to alter things at very short notice.

The BMC event procedures and guidelines:- click here for Word document

Please note that the mid-week events are on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will be run on the Knowle based courses.

For 2020, the time trial series will follow the tried and tested BMC/TMR schedule, with the usual interesting twists thrown in. There will be a total of 21 events. To make life interesting there are a few “different” events through the season:-

·          Signing-on for events is at the car park in Knowle.

·          All events use the K1 courses and the derivatives (excepting the hill climbs)

·          Many of the events will be shared with Solihull CC

·          Event 10 is the ‘Brian Hession’ event with a max gear of 72” – fixed or free. You can ride using unlimited gearing, but you won’t get any points. Simples.

·          Event 6 is ‘Road Bikes only’ - none of this aero-kit malarkey. No TT bikes, no tri-bars, no disc wheels or deep-dish rims, and definitely no pointy hats or pixie boots. You can ride your TT bike but you won’t get any points.

·          Event 21 is the John Greathead hill-climb

BMC events will be Tuesday & Thursday evenings '10's to the end of the season and there will be various Sunday events per month, alternating between a '16' or a '25'. The courses can be described as 'sporting'.

Riders are allocated into one of three groupings based on previous form. Points are awarded for position relative to those in the same group with 20 points for first, 19 for second etc. Within each group there’s also a BAR competition.

Additionally, there’s a points league for all vets against the VTTA Standards. Top fifteen scores to count for each league.

Again, we’ll have a Handicap league. Rider’s best times during the last three seasons over the three BMC/TMR courses will become their personal bogey time for that distance. Similarly to Vets we’ll work out plussages and allocate points. Again, best fifteen scores to count.

Details of the courses can be found on the MidlandDC website, or here:- click here for K1 course details.

Please note that, due to constraints on numbers The Management have to reserve the right to restrict private trials.
