TEAM MIDLAND RACING - Time Trial Series

2012 Series – Approved List

For 2012, the time trial series will use roughly the same format as recent years but with some interesting twists thrown in. There will be a total of 38 events, all of which count for points. To make life interesting Pete DeGaffa has chucked in a few “different” events through the season:-

·        Event 1 is ‘Peachy’s Ball Breaker’ with a max gear of 72” – fixed or free. You can ride using unlimited gearing, but you won’t get any points. Simples.

·        Events 25 and 26 will be both a double header as well as “Old School” races – road bikes only, none of this aero-kit malarkey. DeGaffa says – no TT bikes, no tri-bars, no disc wheels or deep-dish rims, and definitely no pointy hats or pixie boots. You can ride your TT bike but you won’t get any points.

·        The 5, 15 and 25 mile events will be on new versions of the previous courses, now called K28.

·        TMR is proud to, again, host a round of the West Midland Ladies Series – event 14 (Note: due to flooding this is now event 29)

·        Seven of the counting events will be open races organised by local clubs in the region

·        Last counting event will be the ‘Open 10’ at the end of the season

TMR events will be Thursday evening '10's right through the season and there will be various Sunday events per month, alternating between a '15.5' or a '25'. The courses can be described as 'sporting'.

Riders are allocated into one of four groupings based on previous form. Points are awarded for position relative to those in the same group with 20 points for first, 19 for second etc. Within each group there’s also a BAR competition.

Additionally, there’s a points league for all vets against the VTTA Standards. Top twenty scores to count for each league.

Again, we’ll have a Handicap league. Rider’s best times during the last three seasons over the three TMR courses will become their personal bogey time for that distance. Similarly to Vets we’ll work out plussages and allocate points. Again, best twenty scores to count.

Details of the courses can be found on the MidlandDC website, or download the information click here for K26/K28 courses.

The results from the events can be found by clicking here:

The application form for 2012 can be downloaded in Excel format from here:-   (sorry, link now closed) Note the changes in fees from last year. This is due solely to a 100% increase in club event levies that the CTT have imposed - it’s nothing to do with TMR.

Clubrooms:- On Thursday evenings the Church Hall in Hampton-in-Arden is available. It’s suggested that you leave your car there and ride to the start. On finishing your ride then don’t stop at the finish, just chug up the hill to the HQ and grab a free Big Maggys coffee. The church hall is located at the top of the hill – amazingly, it’s next door to the church. On Sunday mornings we’ll use the Sports Hall on Shadowbrook Lane.

Please note that, due to constraints on numbers The Management have to reserve the right to restrict private trials.

Also, for safety reasons please DO NOT park in the layby between Hampton island and the farm/bridge on Thursday evenings. Instead, please park at/near the finish (but keep off the grass).

There are some important safety notices at the bottom of this page. Please take the time to read and inwardly digest.
