TEAM MIDLAND RACING - Time Trial Series

2010 Series – Approved List

Update 08-June: The Cones have gone from the dual carriageway. We can revert back to the original schedule as from 10th June. The list below has been updated to reflect this.

For 2010, the time trial series will use roughly the same format as the last couple of years. It works, so why change it? There will be a total of 30 events, all of which count for points. To make life interesting Pete DeGaffa has chucked in a few “different” events through the season:-

·         Event 1 is ‘Peachy’s Ball Breaker’ with a max gear of 72” – fixed or free. You can ride using unlimited gearing, but you won’t get any points.

·         Event 7 will be an “Old School” race – road bikes only, none of this aero-kit malarkey. DeGaffa says – no TT bikes, no tri-bars, no disc wheels or deep-dish rims, and definitely no pointy hats. You can ride your TT bike but you won’t get any points.

·         Event 14 is also proud to be a counting event in the West Midlands Womens Series.

·         Event 18 will also be the Coventry Tri Club’s TT championship

·         Events 28 and 29 will be two events back to back.

·         The series will also throw in some 5-milers.

·         A handful of the 10-milers will be on the three-lap course.

All events will be based on the K26 course and start at the A45/A452 Stonebridge island slip road. There will be Thursday evening '10's right through the season and there will be just one Sunday event per month, alternating between a '15.5' or a '25'. The courses can be described as 'sporting'.

Pete DeGaffa uses some vague form of Gordon Brown Sound Economic Logic to allocate riders into one of three groupings. Points are awarded for position relative to those in the same group with 20 points for first, 19 for second etc. Within each group there’s also a BAR competition. Additionally, there’s a points league for all vets against the VTTA Standards. Top twenty scores to count for each league.

Details of the courses can be found on the MidlandDC website, or download the information click here for K26 courses.

The results from the events can be found by clicking here: 2010 points series results

The application form for 2010 can be downloaded in Excel format from here.(10-10-10 this year’s form no longer available). Note the changes in fees from previous years – for a senior rider it’s now £25.00 per year for racing members.

Please note that, due to constraints on numbers The Management have to reserve the right to restrict private trials.

Also, for safety reasons please DO NOT park in the layby between Hampton island and the farm/bridge on Thursday evenings. Instead, please park at/near the finish (but keep off the grass).

There are some important safety notices at the bottom of this page. Please take the time to read and inwardly digest.
